I never had a strong opinion one way or another; I always figured if I got married, I'd either have kids or I wouldn't, but my biological clock apparently stopped altogether a long time ago <g>. I have a TON of respect for people who are parents, but I also have a TON of respect for people who knew/know they don't want children and then never have them (my one cousin and his wife and also, apparently, all my nieces and nephews, though Sis is convinced her daughter has changed her mind now that she has a longtime boyfriend). You're right--it *does* take a lot of time, energy and yes, money to raise a child.
