But before I reveal that reason, I should say I've finally found an aspect of my current job that I actually...enjoy. I've found I actually like doing the "locates" (aka fulfilling online orders). It's like a little treasure hunt to me, especially since the store is so small and the storeroom in back is absolutely PACKED with clothes from seasons (and even a couple years) past. I get an odd thrill at being able to find, and then ship out, an item that's been languishing in the back of the racks for months, and it actually saddens me a little when I cannot find the requested item*.

* Which is my second reason for not buying clothing online...the first is I need to try items on to see how they fit and see how they look on me. The second is sometimes due to human error inputting data, the computer thinks we have something, but we don't. I'm not yet sure how "they" go about removing an item from the system but I know there's been a few items--a pair of flared dress pants, a black embellished poncho, a couple shirts, etc.--that I've literally told the computer two dozen times "not found" but it still asks.

Anyways, my third reason now for not shopping for clothes online is you have no way of knowing what you're going to get regarding quality and newness of an item. Our store is so small, we often don't even get certain items but customers who order them online can return them to our store for a refund, exchange or merchandise card. There's a spot in the back room for items returned that had been ordered off the website...today, I had a locate for one of those items, and when I went to retrieve it, hoo boy, it reeked of the returner's perfume. I'm not particularly sensitive to smell but this item was giving ME a headache. I feel for the woman who gets the package and unwraps it only to be bombarded with eau d' ewwwww.

But please, customers...don't stop ordering online, especially the sales items. Fulfilling those orders is my favorite part of my job 😁
