They're stupid cheap at Costco (most SNAP users don't have Costco membership, I'm willing to bet), but they're still much less expensive than a whole chicken at Walmart, Safeway, or Fry's. Also very versatile.

I admit that I buy Costco rotisserie chicken for my dogs. One bird lasts about a month after I tear it apart. I give it to my dogs in the morning as an added protein topper. One, the one who had the bilateral FHO a few years ago, is supposed to get extra protein. Can't beat the price.
