Why am *I* the one getting punished because Congress can't get its **** together? I didn't choose not to be at work. This frankly should not even be an option. It's the most fundamental part of their job, and they've been failing at it for years and years at this point. The never-ending CRs are also a failure. We spend more time in CRs than actually having a budget, and people who aren't federal employees may not know the difference, but there certainly is a big difference in terms of funding.
I have been trying to read up on it, I had one expert say that the past year has been completely running on CR and it is a failure of congress.
Having said that, I don't accept just giving Trump carte blanche to cut healthcare and make it obscenely more expensive than it already is. People who think this isn't a big deal now will soon enough - this is going to impact ALL of us, not just those on Medicaid or have healthcare through the ACA. I largely blame Republicans for how polarized this become. Cruz's shutdown became a blueprint for Republicans, unfortunately. And it shouldn't escape anyone's attention that this didn't happen when Biden was President, versus it happens all the ****ing time with Trump.
The last CR was in March. What were they all doing between March and now? For the life of me I don't understand how they can get away with this.
BUT. If the government shuts down because Congress refuses to get its **** together. Then THEY should be the first ones to have their pay cut. Because they are not doing their jobs. I was doing my job just fine.
THIS!! AT the very least, they should not get paid.
